The town of Huittinen is located in the South-Western province of Satakunta.

In terms of accessibility, Huittinen is in the centre of the Turku – Tampere – Pori triangle.  Near the centre of Huittinen is the junction of trunk roads leading to the main cities; the Helsinki – Pori road, Turku – Tampere road and the Tampere – Huittinen – Rauma road.  This intersection location means Huittinen coach terminal is busy, with over 2000 passengers per day being carried to a variety of destinations.  Airports are within easy reach by road, with Tampere Pirkkala only an hour away.

As a place to live, Huittinen is warm and friendly.  The town of around 9000 inhabitants offers all amenities needed in day to day life, all within close proximity of each other.  Lauttakylä, the centre of Huittinen in terms of economy, employment and geography, offers various specialist shops and services. Parking is free around the town.  The clean and safe environment makes for an excellent place to live, perfect for families with children. 

Food processing is Huittinen’s largest area of employment.  Farming, engineering, building and manufacturing also account for much of the work in the area, as do a host of small businesses. The town is also a busy hub for road transport and passengers, and a place to come for furniture stores.  Huittinen also offers an exceptional range of educational opportunities, and education is one of the key elements in the town’s development strategy. 

Culture is highly regarded and diversely appreciated in Huittinen.  Venues include the Risto Ryti Hall, which seats over 400.  Ample sports venues also encourage participation in a variety of sports.
